whatsnew.txt What's new in Emu71 ? Emu71 version 2.45 - october 2016 - remove the break on write to system ROM introduced in version 2.43 - source files available - add the GNU licence information in the help screen and main source file. Emu71 version 2.45a - december 2015 - change the operation of ROM checkum update (2.43) to avoid to corrupt the diag ROM Emu71 version 2.44 - december 2014 - add support for large disc up to 16 MB. Now, INITIALIZE creates a 16MB volume on HDRIVE1, and a standard 640KB disc on HDRIVE2. The difference between HDRIVE1 and HDRIVE2 is only regarding INITIALIZE, both drives can manage any disc image up to 16MB. When initializing HDRIVE1, I recommend to do INITIALIZE :HDRIVE1,2000 to limit the directory to 2000 entries (by default, INITIALIZE uses 1/32 of the disc size for the directory, that would be 16000 entries, consuming 512KB). - minor change in HP-IL scope (UNL/UNT) Emu71 version 2.43 - sept 2012 - add support of EEPROM module type (use EEP tag instead of ROM in Emu71.ini file), any change to the EEPROM is saved in the ROM image file to be able to permanently patch a ROM module from Emu71 using an unrestricted POKE. - update the ROM checksums after installing the patches for Emu71 - support of the CMT checksum scheme in the Emu71 debugger for user-made EPROM modules - very partial support of the HP-IL manual mode for SCOPELEX analysis - minor fix in HP-IL code (findndevice() function - from C.G.) Emu71 version 2.42 - july 2010 - correct a minor problem with RESET HPIL (didn't properly reset mailbox status) - disable the PIL-Box at Emu71's exit (same than Emu41 now) - correct the timeout value of serial communication (same than Emu41 now) Emu71 version 2.41 - 6 april 2010 - native support of the PIL-Box, it works reasonably well but still experimental, i.e. quite slow and not 100% guaranteed. The recommended solution for file exchange between Emu71 and HP-71B with the PIL-Box is to use the ILPer software and share the hdrive1.dat file. - small improvement of the emulation speed Emu71 version 2.30 - 23 april 2006 - improved display and keyboard management, now compatible with cut&paste operation in Windows environment. - improved speed, speed is now much more stable in Windows environment. - Serial ports Emu71 adds two virtual devices, SERIAL1 and SERIAL2, to communicate with RS232 devices. With these ports, it is possible to download programs or data to the HP71 through the HPIL/RS232 interface HP82164A. - support of the RAM-based debugger (HP82478), including the RECOVER keystroke sequence. - CALC mode is now working (although not very usefull IMHO) - support of HPIL CONTROL OFF mode. This allows an external HP-71B to access the internal devices (registered version only). Emu71 version 2.2x - 2004-2005 - Working versions for testing - not released. Emu71 version 2.11 - 29 oct. 2003 - support of 43 and 50 lines display modes, Emu41 now supports 43 and 50 lines display mode. To set this mode, use the MODE CO80,43 or CO80,50 command (DOS, MS-DOS command box in Win95/98), or set the number of lines in the Command Box Properties (WinNT, Win2000, etc, ...) before lauching Emu71. - emulation of the HP-IL loop and 6 HP-IL devices (one video display, three mass storage units, one printer interface, one DOS interface), - direct access to LIF image file archives, For more information or any update, please visit my home page at: http://www.jeffcalc.hp41.eu/emu71
